AC5 is an AC1200 dual-band WiFi router from Tenda, designed specifically for medium-sized apartments running fiber internet up to 100Mbps. Built with a 28nm high-performance CPU and four high-gain antennas, this router is engineered to get the most out of a modern fiber connection while remaining simple to set up and manage.
The AC5 delivers combined WiFi speeds up to 1167Mbps, split across 867Mbps on the 5GHz band and 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band — up to six times faster than a typical single-band router. This matters in practice: most smartphones only support single-band 1×1 WiFi modules, which cap speeds around 72Mbps on a basic router. The AC5’s dual-band architecture lifts that same device to as much as 433Mbps, letting it actually take advantage of a 100Mbps fiber connection instead of bottlenecking at the router.
A key convenience feature of the AC5 is its integrated dual-band technology, which combines the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals under a single WiFi network name. Rather than forcing users to manually choose a band, the router’s dynamic optimization system automatically allocates the faster band to each connected device, simplifying the WiFi experience for non-technical households.
Setup is designed to be quick, with broadband account migration functionality that transfers existing account settings from an old router, getting a new AC5 online in minutes rather than requiring a full manual reconfiguration. The AC5 also supports IPv6 protocol, reducing data transmission time and minimizing lag for a noticeably better gaming and streaming experience.
Hardware-wise, the AC5 is powered by a 1GHz CPU with 32MB of RAM, paired with four 6dBi external antennas for strong signal reach throughout a typical apartment. Connectivity includes one 10/100Mbps WAN port and three 10/100Mbps LAN ports for wired devices.
Management is handled through the Tenda WiFi App, which gives users an easy way to configure parental controls — managing children’s online time and supervising content — along with guest network setup, including blacklist creation and access limits for visitors. Additional features include client filtering, IPTV support, SSID hiding, and WPA2 security for safe, private network access.
