The DHI-NVR5216-EI2 is a 16-channel, 1U network video recorder from Dahua’s next-generation WizSense EI2 series, built to deliver faster bandwidth, larger storage, and more advanced AI search than earlier WizSense models. It’s designed for businesses that want future-ready performance in a compact recorder.
This recorder supports IP camera resolutions up to 32 MP and reaches a maximum decoding capability of 40 channels at 1080p@30fps. Bandwidth is rated at 448 Mbps for incoming, recording, and outgoing streams, dropping to 200 Mbps when AI functions are enabled, giving it notably higher throughput than previous-generation EI models.
AI performance is where the DHI-NVR5216-EI2 truly stands apart. Onboard, it delivers 4-channel face detection and recognition, 16-channel SMD Plus, 8-channel perimeter protection, and 4-channel video metadata and AcuPick analytics. It also introduces WizSeek, an intelligent search engine that can index and search recorded footage using natural language across 32 supported languages, with modeling capacity of up to 345,600 targets per day.
Camera-side AI extends further into ANPR, PPE detection, crowd distribution, heat mapping, and smart sound detection, all supported across full channel counts when paired with compatible Dahua cameras. Face database capacity reaches 20 databases with up to 30,000 images, giving it stronger identity management capacity than older models.
Storage is handled through two SATA bays, each supporting up to 26 TB, alongside N+M clustering and iSCSI support for scalable, redundant architecture. Video output includes 8K-capable HDMI alongside VGA, with heterogeneous source configuration for flexible multi-display setups.
