The U6 Long-Range is a WiFi 6 ceiling-mounted access point from Ubiquiti’s UniFi lineup, built for spaces that need wider coverage without stepping up to a full enterprise WiFi 6E model. Its extended range makes it a strong fit for larger offices, warehouses, and multi-room environments where a standard AP would leave gaps.
At its core, the U6 Long-Range runs on 8 spatial streams with 4×4 MU-MIMO on the 5 GHz band and 4×4 SU-MIMO on 2.4 GHz. Maximum data rate reaches 2.4 Gbps on 5 GHz (BW160) and 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (BW40), giving it significantly higher throughput than entry-level models while still keeping deployment simple.
Coverage and capacity are the defining strengths of this model. The U6 Long-Range supports over 350 concurrent client connections across a coverage area of up to 185 m² (2,000 ft²), extending signal reach further than compact APs thanks to its larger antenna array and higher transmit power. Its 802.11ax chipset also maintains backward compatibility with 802.11ac and 802.11n devices.
Enterprise-grade features are built in throughout. The U6 Long-Range supports wireless meshing, band steering, 802.11r fast roaming, 802.11k radio resource management, and Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0), along with a full captive portal suite including custom branding, voucher authentication, payment-based access, and RADIUS-assigned VLANs for network segmentation.
Connectivity runs through a single Gigabit Ethernet uplink port with PoE+ power delivery, drawing a maximum of 18.5W. Rated IP54 for basic dust and splash resistance, the device weighs 800g on its own or 930g with the included Pro Mount, and its enclosure combines a polycarbonate housing with a stainless steel (SUS304) mount for durability.
Built to operate from –30°C to 60°C with 5–95% non-condensing humidity tolerance, the U6 Long-Range handles a wide range of indoor environments. It’s managed through the UniFi Network application (version 6.0.45 or later) via Ethernet or Bluetooth, and is NDAA compliant with CE, FCC, IC, and SRRC certifications.
