The Dahua BP5E is a Wi-Fi solar security system built for households that want flexible, cable-free outdoor monitoring with sharper detail and dependable power in any weather. Combining battery operation with solar charging, this camera runs uninterrupted without relying on a fixed power source, making it ideal for gates, sheds, fences, and other spots where wiring isn’t practical.
Power efficiency is central to the Dahua BP5E’s design. AOV (Active Object Verification) mode enables 24/7 recording while consuming as little as 0.1W, and an ultra power-saving mode drops consumption even further to 0.02W. Performance mode draws just 1.22W for full live-view use. With a battery capacity of up to 36Wh and solar charging support, the camera sustains long-term outdoor operation, including cold-weather charging down to -10°C — a meaningful advantage in colder climates where many solar cameras struggle.
Image quality is a step up from the standard BP3E model. The Dahua BP5E uses a 1/3″ CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 2880 x 1620, encoded through H.265 compression, delivering noticeably sharper detail for identifying faces, vehicles, or activity at a distance. Coverage is equally strong, with pan rotation up to 350° and tilt up to 90°, giving the camera a full 360° view of the monitored area without leaving blind spots. Dual IR and warm-light illuminators extend visibility up to 30 meters, ensuring reliable footage day and night.
Smart detection adds real security value. AI-based human and vehicle detection helps the camera focus on genuine activity, reducing false alerts triggered by passing animals or shifting shadows. Motion detection zones can be customized across four rectangular areas, giving users control over exactly where the camera pays attention.
Connectivity runs on Wi-Fi 6 (802.11b/g/n/a/ac/ax) across both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, delivering strong throughput with solid resistance to interference. Setup is simplified through Bluetooth pairing, avoiding complicated manual configuration.
Two-way communication is supported through a built-in mic and speaker, letting users speak directly to visitors or deter unwanted activity remotely. Storage is handled locally through a microSD card supporting up to 512GB, with full access managed through the DMSS app on iOS and Android.
